Privacy Policy
Vocce Tutor is a voice language-learning app operated by Saadia Publication Inc., Montreal, Quebec, Canada (“we”). This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. Questions: support@vocce.app.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we never see it in plain text).
- Your voice during a lesson: streamed live to our server and to Google's AI service so the teacher can hear and answer you. We do not record or store your audio.
- Learning data: the mistakes the teacher notes (the words you said and the correct form), drill results, homework tasks and results, and your lesson language and teacher settings.
- Lesson records: date, length, language, number of mistakes and drills, response times and the AI cost of each lesson. We use these for your report card, for your minute allowance and to keep the service running.
- Subscription: your plan, renewal and expiry dates, received from Apple or Google Play through RevenueCat. We do not receive your payment card details.
- Technical: server logs with your account ID, the lesson's start and end, and errors, kept for up to 30 days.
We do not use advertising, ad tracking or third-party analytics, and we do not sell your data.
2. Why we use it
- To run your lessons, remember your mistakes and drill them later, give homework and build your report card.
- To manage your subscription and enforce your plan's lesson minutes.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To comply with the law, including Quebec's Law 25, PIPEDA (Canada) and, where it applies, the GDPR.
3. Who processes your data
- Google (Gemini API), United States: receives your lesson audio in real time and produces the teacher's voice and the transcript.
- Supabase, United States: stores your account and learning data.
- Hetzner, Germany: hosts our lesson server; your audio passes through it but is not stored.
- RevenueCat, Apple and Google: process your subscription and payment.
- Microsoft Azure (only if pronunciation scoring is turned on): receives short clips of your speech to score pronunciation.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Your data may therefore be processed outside your province or country, including in the United States and Germany.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data until you delete your account. When you delete it, we delete your account, mistakes, homework, lesson records and your subscription record at RevenueCat. We keep one anonymous counter of lesson minutes used per store subscription period (it contains no name, email or account ID) so that a deleted and re-created account cannot reuse minutes already spent. Server logs are deleted after 30 days.
5. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time in the app: Lesson tab → Delete account. This cannot be undone.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by writing to support@vocce.app. We answer within 30 days.
- You can withdraw your microphone permission in your phone's Settings at any time; lessons need it.
- If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact your privacy authority (in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information).
6. Security
All traffic between the app, our server and our providers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to stored data is limited to our server and to the people who operate the service.
7. Children
Vocce Tutor is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Raw mode, which uses slang and swearing, is for adults only. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
